Who won the first debate between Harris and Trump?

Polls conducted following the presidential debate between Vice President, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, and former President, Republican candidate Donald Trump, revealed that Harris, who is seeking to be the first female president of the United States, is ahead.

The Washington Post considered that Harris gave one of the “most widely acclaimed performances in recent decades.”

“Small margins can matter a lot in a close election, and Harris clearly helped herself with her debate performance,” the newspaper said.

The report referred to “two immediate polls after the debate, one from CNN and the other from YouGov.”

The CNN poll showed that Harris won by 63 percent to 37 percent among debate viewers, while she achieved a 54-31 percent lead according to a YouGov poll among registered voters who watched at least parts of the debate, while 14 percent were not sure of their choice.

Harris’s margin of victory is among the “most decisive victories in modern history,” according to CNN estimates, although a strong debate performance does not always translate into a win and a White House.

The debate was held on Tuesday evening and was watched by more than 57.5 million people across seven television networks. The debate received a lot of attention, and was the first time that Trump and Harris, the candidates for the presidential election scheduled for November 5, met face to face.
