by time news

There are 19 Italian films that have nominated themselves to represent our cinema at the Oscars this year. They range from Parthenope by Paolo Sorrentino (who has two nominations and the statuette won in 2014 for The Great Beauty) to Vermiglio, the first work by Maura Delpero, winner of the Silver Lion in Venice, from Campo di battaglia by Gianni Amelio to La vita Accanto by Marco Tullio Giordana up to first works such as Volare by Margherita Buy and Zamora by Neri Marcorè.

Paola Cortellesi: «I teach my daughter Laura to like herself. I’m writing a new film, it will be a surprise»

Oscars, 19 Italian films nominated but “There’s still tomorrow” by Paola Cortellesi is not there

The commission established at Anica will choose on September 24th. But the absence of a title in the list is striking: There is still tomorrowthe record-breaking directorial debut of Paola Cortellesi which grossed 37 million domestically and also enchanted foreign markets. Why? A question of dates: The film was released on October 26, 2023, that is, 5 days before the window (November 1, 2023-October 30, 2024) established by Anica for self-nominations.

Among the 19, Accattaroma, Cento dominiche, Confidenza, Food for profit, Gloria!, Children of Gaza – On the waves of freedom, My place is here, The time it takes, Ninetta’s house, Lubo, Palazzina Laf, Taxi monamour, The other way are still in the running. The shortlist of 15 pre-finalists will be announced on December 17, the nominations will be on January 17 and the Oscars will be awarded in Los Angeles on March 2, 2025.
