“I live on the fifth floor. I’m on parental leave so I’m home most of the time. However, the postman is maliciously lazy to get up and deliver the package. Instead, they drop a note in the mailbox on the first floor saying I could not be found. I myself have seen the postman enter the stairwell and quickly leave it more than once. And soon I also receive a message saying that I have to pick up the package at the post office,” said the woman from Panevėžys.
Aims to provide the highest level of service
Lukas Zadarackas, head of communication projects of Lithuanian Post, claimed that such cases are unique.
“We regret the situation shared by Rasa from Panevezys. I would like to assure you that the described case is an isolated one – the lettermen of Lithuanian Post are making every effort to ensure the highest level of service provision and customer experience. For its part, Lithuanian Post annually implements a continuous program for improving working conditions, one of the most important components of which is the increase of wages for employees.
Only in 2023 the wage fund amounted to 4.1 million euros and most of it was intended for raising the wages of mailmen, customer service specialists, employees working in parcel distribution activities, creating and reviewing variable parts of wages,” explained the man.
They do not carry packages heavier than 2 kg
L. Zadaracks pointed out that if the postman fails to deliver the registered/assessed correspondence parcel, when the recipient is not at home, a delivery notice is left in his mailbox with information about the place and time of collection of the parcel.
“However, it is important to mention that postmen do not leave delivery notices only when they cannot find the recipient at home. They are also left if the package is heavier than 2 kg or has large dimensions – then the recipient is invited to come and collect it from the nearest post office”, said the head of communication projects.
