Without weapons it is impossible
Evolv founder Mike Ellenbogen once drove his son and his friends to a concert. With surprise, he realized that each of the friends discussed with their parents what to do if shooting starts during the concert. This was not the case in his childhood. To date, Evolv scanners have detected more than 5,000 weapons. This does not mean that it was illegal or brought with malicious intent – in Texas, for example, you can even carry an automatic weapon. In 2005, Florida Governor Jeb Bush expanded the right to self-defense. Previously, it was possible to shoot a criminal on the territory of his house and plot if there was a threat to his life. Bush exempted from criminal responsibility in self-defense and in public places. Bush became one of the investors in Evolv. He was motivated to do so by the increasing frequency of mass shootings in the United States, he explained in a statement to the startup’s website: “Evolv has reinvented what is required in physical security systems to protect innocent people. Outdated systems inherited from the past simply do not meet modern needs. ” In 2019, there were as many massacres in the United States (more than four people) than there have been since the late 1970s, says Business Insider. There were 211 deaths registered in 41 cases, 33 of which were related to the use of firearms. The previous anti-record was set in 2006 – 38 cases.
