He conducted these studies at Tirupporur, Patalam in Chengalpattu district near Chennai, Pannur and Parantur near Sunguarschatram in Kanchipuram district.

In Kanchipuram district, it has been decided to set up the airport in Parantur, an area where there are not many cell phone towers, while either Parantur or Pannur in Wallajabad union can be selected.

About 6 km from Chennai-Bangalore National Highway. As Paranthur was far away, Arakkonam in the north and Kanchipuram in the south, the officials decided that it would be best to build the 2nd airport in Chennai at Paranthur.

73 km from Chennai and 16 km from Kanchipuram. Panathur is located in the distance.

Rajya Sabha DMK member Kanimozhi NVN Somu questioned whether there is a plan to build a green airport in Chennai so as not to affect the environment and how much the project estimate is.

Responding to his question, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh said that the Tamil Nadu government had first proposed 4 sites for the construction of a new airport near Chennai.

In those 4 places, Kanchipuram District Parantur was decided as a suitable place for setting up a green airport in all respects and informed the central government about it. Therefore, he officially announced that the construction of a new airport at Parantur will start soon.

The new green airport at Parantur is being built on 4,971 acres at an estimated cost of Rs.60,000 crore. Both runways are designed to accommodate two flights simultaneously. The airport entrance will be located 6 km from the Chennai-Bangalore 6 highway.

Expectations of Farmers: It is also the expectation of the people of the area that the airport should be constructed without any harm to agriculture. Due to the government’s official announcement that an airport will be established in Parantur, the value of land in that area is likely to increase several times.
