(Web Desk) Netflix has announced to add a withdrawal notice to the controversial web series kneeling before the Indian government.
A controversy continues in India over the use of the names Bhola and Shankar for the hijackers in the web series “IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack”, which was released last week on Netflix. After which Netflix announced to add a disclaimer to the controversial web series.
Netflix India’s head of content Monica Shergill said that for viewers who are not familiar with the 1999 hijacking, the disclaimer has been changed to include the identity and code of the hijackers. Both names are included.
It should be noted that in December 1999, an Indian Airlines flight from Kathmandu to Delhi was hijacked and taken to Amritsar, Lahore, Dubai and Kandahar. Azhar, Ahmed Umar Saeed and Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar were able to be released, according to passengers on the plane and journalists reporting on the incident, the hijackers called each other Chief, Doctor, Burger, Bhola and Shankar while talking to each other. However, in a statement released by the Indian government on January 6, 2000, the hijackers were identified as Ibrahim Athar, Shahid Akhtar, Sunny Ahmed Qazi, Mastri Zahoor Ibrahim and Shakir.
