Why do people use dietary supplements?

by time news

Are you getting enough vitamins every day? It is quite difficult to find the perfect balance in everything. That’s why people choose to invest in nutritional supplements. You take this every day on top of your meals with the aim of achieving a better balance in terms of vitamins in your body. This is how it is.

For example, are you afraid that you don’t have enough? vitamin C receives? Especially in winter there are many people who take this vitamin swallow, although you can also get them from fruits and vegetables that are available in the winter. Think of various types of cabbage, broccoli, citrus fruits and even normal potatoes. You can also take a supplement for it, with the advantage that you simply pee out an excess of this vitamin from a body.

Dietary Supplements

There are many reasons to take supplements, because even if you eat and drink throughout the day and choose a healthy diet, there can still be a deficiency of a certain vitamin. After all, we know that we need vitamins to stay healthy and to make ourselves resistant to diseases. For example, in the past, explorers at sea who had scurvy quickly discovered that this was due to a vitamin C deficiency: if the sick ate oranges, they soon recovered.

Fortunately, nowadays we don’t just risk scurvy, but there are plenty of other diseases for which we want to to protect. So eat lots of fruits and vegetables! However, some people worry that these foods contain significantly fewer vitamins and minerals than they used to be. The quality of these foods would deteriorate, partly due to the way we produce them and spray them against pests. That is a reason for some people to choose supplements. Others, for example, choose it because they do a lot of sports and want to become broad: they hope to make sure that their bodies – and especially their muscles – do not lack anything with supplements.

Ayurveda

There are also people who buy ashwagandha, an important component in Ayurveda. That is a completely different movement: those people buy nutritional supplements from a kind of zen/yoga-like way of thinking. Ashwagandha is said to have a positive effect on mental balance and protect against stress. This has not been officially proven, but many people believe that this root-derived ingredient has a certain healing effect.

We have also recently seen a huge revival in nutritional supplements, when media wrote about the positive influence of vitamin D in corona. You would be less likely to get sick from it, causing significant supply problems of this particular vitamin. Vitamin D is also often recommended if you don’t get that much sunlight on your skin. This is a frequently purchased supplement, especially in winter, although this vitamin can also be obtained from your diet: eggs, fatty fish and low-fat margarine, for example.

In short, there are several reasons to use nutritional supplements: many people take multivitamins daily in the hope of giving their body an extra boost. However, you should always continue to eat fruit and vegetables with it, because that ultimately works the best for your body.
