The fear that the PNV, who has the keys of the ETA prisoners, adopt a decision in the sense of toughening the granting of third degrees and similar measures; and above all, “kill the cow that gives them milk”in reference to the Government of Pedro Sánchez, are two of the reasons, in the opinion of anti-terrorism experts consulted by LA RAZÓN, for the withdrawal of the ETA candidates known this morning.
The reactions that occurred after the announcement of the candidacies, although foreseeable, EhBildu has overflowed and, above all, Sortu, the main party of the coalition, in which important leaders of what came to be called the “ETA complex” are integrated and who were the ones who imposed the candidacies. It was one way, yet another, of recognizing the “merits” of the gang and its gunmen in the struggle “for the liberation of the Basque working people.”
However, what on another occasion went well for them, when ETA candidates slipped in, this time it overwhelmed them. The matter was becoming a real boomerang against their interests.
The blunt statements by the Lendakari Urkullu in the sense that we were not dealing with a coincidence but a considered decision with all the consequences, in addition to leaving the socialists alone (absolutely confused and bewildered) of a possible support in these difficult moments, were a Kind of warning to boaters. Who manages prison policy is the PNV and it was not a matter of angering the nationalists and less in the middle of the electoral campaign, in which votes are disputed that can go to one side or the other.
On the other hand, after the initial surprise and the clear dislocation of the socialist government, the reaction of the PSOE, starting with its “barons, was categorical. And it seems clear, Otegui already said it on his day, Where were they going to find a government more favorable to their interests than that of Sánchez? It would be interesting to know the content of the exchanges that must have existed between both parties in these days and what they have “promised”.
There may be another reason. And it is that it jumped to public opinion, it has already happened thanks to what was published by LA RAZÓN, a matter that extraordinarily annoys the pro-ETARra world. Non-payment of money owed to the State, which took charge of the compensation to the victims of terrorism. It is a lot of money as a whole and the figures it collects, precisely from the state, EhBildu, are counted in millions of euros.
We will have to wait an hour to listen to Otegui’s explanations, a true magician in turning defeats into victories. In any case, the warning for the socialists should not be underestimated, from the old pro-ETAR environment for the socialist government and the one that they can organize at any time, if their demands are not met.
