New Delhi: Grammy award winner Ricky Cage has lashed out at Air India. He has accused the airline of ‘downgrading’ him from business class to economy class without any prior notice and ‘refusing’ to give refund for the downgraded service. The incident took place in Delhi on Saturday. Ricky Cage expressed strong displeasure over the services of the airline. He criticized the rude behavior of a person present at the counter. Cage said that this is the third time in the last one year that he has faced sudden service downgrading. He asked Air India to ‘introspect’ on its ability to operate the airline.

Shock for the third time in a year

The noted Indian-American musician said, “Wow.. this is happening to me for the third time in a year. I booked and paid for an Air India business class ticket from Mumbai to Bangalore. When I reached the departure gate, the staff rudely told me that I have been downgraded (without any reason) and they cannot give me a refund. What is going on with Air India? The person at the counter is Nishita Singh. Not helpful at all and rude.”

The Grammy winner added, “It’s okay to have operational issues due to unforeseen circumstances. But, not providing quick and effective solutions for the same is absolutely criminal… and unworthy of a reputed brand.”

warning of legal action

Threatening to take legal action against the airline, Cage said he expects a full refund as he was not given the service he paid for. “I think this is a very reasonable request from Air India. Since you have downgraded me from business to economy class without any prior notice, all I want to know is: 1. How much refund will I get. 2. When will I get my refund. 3. How will I get the refund. Based on this I can decide to change my flight or boarding,” he asked.

“Based on this I may decide to change my flight or board. Also you need to give your customer the peace of mind that I won’t have to run around trying to get my refund. Also I would expect a 100% refund just because I wasn’t given the service I paid for. If not, I will take legal action,” Cage wrote on X.
