When is Groom’s Day celebrated in Mexico?

Being a very new celebration, Groom’s Day varies from country to country. In Mexico it is celebrated on October 3rd. In other countries, such as Colombia, Chile and Peru, it is celebrated on the first Tuesday of October.

These are not the only places that commemorate the couple: in the United States August 8 is the day chosen to celebrate them.

The celebration was adopted in Mexico around 2016. The origin is not very clear but it is attributed to the #NationalBoyFriendDay social media movement that started in 2014.

Why are flowers called blue?

At that time it was considered that in a heterosexual relationship, generally the boys give flowers to their partners and now they wanted to receive them. In general, the color blue is associated with loyalty, security and trust, and that is what it is meant to convey that that person generates in the other by giving them flowers of that color.
