Why Italy is tempted by the far right

by time news

In Italian, “extreme right” is pronounced “center right”. This is indeed the official name of the coalition which is preparing, according to polls, to take control of the peninsula after the legislative elections on 25th September. It associates Forza Italia, the small party of the eternal crocodile of politics Silvio Berlusconi, the Lega (Ligue) of Matteo Salvini and, above all, Fratelli d’Italia (Brothers from Italy), heir to the neofascist movement MSI, by Giorgia Meloni. Ahead of her allies, it is she who could settle in the chair of Prime Minister, thus becoming the first woman in Italian history to hold this position.
