Ms. Konrad, what do you appreciate: How many adults seem to live their lives independently, have a job, maybe a family – but aren’t really “detached” from their parents, as you call it?

It’s hard to say, people often don’t even realize that. But in my practice as a therapist, I accompany many people whose problems have something to do with the entanglement with their parents.

How do I know if this affects me?

I have put together a series of sentences in the foreword of my new book that you can use to check this. For example: I quickly feel like a small child in the presence of my parents and get overwhelmed by emotions. Or: I can’t set any limits for my parents. Or: I wish my parents would be like they never were. And, the classic: I meet my parents’ expectations, but I don’t really know what I want myself.
