Berlin – The figures are still preliminary. “The exact dates will only be presented in March as an estimate,” said Anja Piel, the chairman of the federal board of the pension insurance, to journalists on Wednesday. But it is already clear: Germany’s pensioners can expect a significant increase in their salaries in the next few years. Pensions are expected to rise by 5.2 percent in the west in 2022, while the increase is 5.9 percent in the east. In 2023, salaries in the west could increase by 4.9 percent and in the east by 5.7 percent. This will increase pensions by more than ten percent – in just two years.
