Why share everything fifty-fifty when someone earns less?

Laura B., 25: My boyfriend and I are moving in together soon, and we’ve actually already talked about all sorts of things related to that, like how we’re going to handle cleaning the apartment, laundry, dishes and so on. We also talked about the unpleasant topic of money, and the idea is: we share everything, including rent, grocery shopping and so on. In retrospect, however, I find this fifty-fifty unfair, because my friend earns more than me, even though we work in similar accounting positions at different companies. It’s probably the gender pay gap that we’re confronted with here, and I would at least solve it privately in a way that wouldn’t put me at a disadvantage. or how do you see it?
