The Caribbean star commented, ‘I don’t think money is the problem. There are so many T20 leagues around the world now that many players are not interested in playing Tests. The busy routine continues. There is no longer any interest in playing in the long format.’

“I always get a thrill out of watching other West Indian batsmen, especially when they keep hitting boundary after boundary. As long as they can make good (income) from overseas contracts, they will want to seize the opportunity,” added Russell.

Russell also said that there is an issue of physical pressure, ‘but everyone loves to play at a big level. So money is not the main issue here. Like, my body is not capable of playing Tests. I don’t even have the fitness to play Tests.’
