DECRYPTION – SNCF plans a new increase in TGV Inouï prices for 2024, less than or equal to inflation. More than ever, SNCF Voyageur is caught between the need to maintain attractive prices and its obligation to finance the renewal of French rail.
Jean-Pierre Farandou preferred to lay his cards on the table. “TGV Inouï prices will increase a little» in 2024, announced the CEO of SNCF on December 12 in the morning of France Info. “No more than inflation», he hastened to clarify. Moderate or not, this new increase in prices could well make people cringe. Over the past year, high-speed train fares have already jumped by 5% on average, not counting the 10-euro increase in Advantage card ceilings made in September. The government has indeed concocted a “tariff shield» intended to contain the surge in rail prices, but this will not include the TGV Inouï. Only the prices of Ouigo trains, the advantage “low cost» of the SNCF, and those Intercités will be frozen in 2024.
