Thiruvananthapuram: There is confusion over making masks mandatory even though there is no significant increase in covid cases including in the state. Masks have again been made mandatory in vehicles, public places and gatherings for a month in Kerala. But including the state, only less than fifty cases are reported daily.
89 new cases were confirmed in the country last day. The daily recovery rate is 0.05% and the weekly recovery rate is 0.09%.
Currently, 2,035 people are under treatment for Covid across India. 0.01% of the total infected people are currently under treatment. The current cure rate is 98.8%. A total of 4,41,48,472 people have already recovered from the disease in the country. So far 220.17 crore vaccine doses (95.14 crore second dose and 22.46 crore preventive dose) have been administered nationwide. In this situation, there is a doubt that there was an urgent need to make masks mandatory.
It is in the background of the Center’s directive to make it a habit to wear a mask, the government has also directed to cover the mouth and nose with a mask in public places, workplaces, places with access to the public, social gatherings, all types of vehicles and during transportation. Health experts say that during the stages when masks were used, there was a huge reduction in the number of infectious diseases in the state and it is good to get used to wearing masks. They also say that when many people including pilgrims and tourists are coming to the state, the use of masks is good for immunity.
At the same time, there is an opinion that it is difficult to use the mask compulsorily in the extreme heat experienced in the state during the day.
