Peshawar: Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked the judiciary to explain the need for a midnight inquiry into the no-confidence motion.
The no-confidence motion was brought against the government of Imran Khan who was the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The Deputy Speaker dismissed it, saying it contained a foreign conspiracy. The apex court, which heard the case voluntarily, quashed the speaker’s order at midnight and ordered a re-vote on the no – confidence motion. Imran Khan lost the by-poll. Shebaz Sharif has been sworn in as the new Prime Minister.
Imran Khan’s party has been waging a nationwide campaign against the no-confidence motion. Imran Khan speaking at a rally in Peshawar: I ask the judiciary why the courtroom was opened at midnight and the trial was held. People have known about me for the last 45 years. Have I ever broken the law? Has anyone ever accused me of being involved in match-fixing while playing cricket?
Celebrations will take place across the country when the former prime minister is removed from office. Currently the struggle is going on. With the help of the opposition, a coup plot was hatched in Washington. When I was in power, no one was dangerous. But that is not the case at present.
In the last 25 years of politics, there has been no diversion of people against government agencies or the judiciary. I ask what crime I committed to the extent of having to open the court at midnight and hold a hearing.
