Why were 30 people arrested in Xochimilco, CDMX?

The Xochimilco mayor’s office in Mexico City was the site of a large police operation, in response to citizen complaints about criminal activities in the area, leaving 30 people detained.

The capital’s Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) carried out a series of coordinated actions in various neighborhoods, with the objective of identifying and arresting individuals linked to violence and organized crime.

Officers from the Undersecretariat of Police Operation and Police Investigation and Intelligence, together with the specialized group Cóndores, were deployed in colonies such as Xaltocan neighborhood, Belén, San Marcos Extensionand others, carrying out security and surveillance tours.

The result was overwhelming: thirty people were arrestedamong which a 43-year-old individual stands out, an alleged member of a criminal organization that operates in the south of the city.

This criminal group, according to authorities, is dedicated to a wide range of illicit activities, including extortion and murder.

Drugs and weapons seized in Xochimilco

In addition to the arrests, large quantities of narcotic substances were seized, including more than 700 doses of cocaine, 400 doses of marijuana and a significant amount of crystal.

Four short firearms, ammunition, ballistic vests and cash were also seized.

The detainees were informed of their rights and, together with everything seized, were placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry to determine their legal situation and follow up on the corresponding investigations.
