It will however have been necessary to wait more than five months before being able to discover the film phenomenon of the year in France. The feature film directed by Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (nicknamed “the Daniels”), with Michelle Yeoh in the cast, is part of the cinema releases of August 31, 2022. And it could also create the event in France, after making a international critical and public success.
Everything Everywhere all at once has everything to be a hit. After Marvel, this feature film once again explores the concept of the multiverse with an aging Chinese immigrant, who must save the world by exploring alternate realities and the lives she could have led. This action and science fiction film had a budget of around 25 million dollars. It has largely covered its costs, since it has collected, for the moment, 97 million dollars at the worldwide box office.
Critics are also conquered: on IMDB, Everything Everywhere all at once obtains the score of 8.2/10. The American review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes gives it 95% positive reviews from the press and 89% from viewers. Le Parisien even believes that he is “as original as he is crazy and phenomenal”, nothing less. Many observers are also campaigning for Michelle Yeoh to have, at least, an Oscar nomination for her performance in the film.
