Kozhikode: Widespread protests against the organization of the International Women’s Film Festival in Kozhikode. Vidhu Vincent has withdrawn his film in protest against the exclusion of young director Kunhila Masilamani’s film and her arrest. AIYF state president and member of the academy N. criticized the chairman of the academy. Arun sent a letter to the Chief Minister. At the same time, the explanation of the Academy is that Kunjila’s film was not deliberately excluded.

Dramatic scenes took place at the opening of the Women’s Film Festival yesterday. Director Kunhila Masilamani’s protest and subsequent arrest, alleging that her film Asanghaditar was excluded from the festival. Many people are coming in solidarity with Kunjila. Vidhu Vincent has withdrawn his film Viral Sebi which was scheduled to be screened at the film festival today. Four films including this were included in the Malayalam film category.

At the same time, the explanation of the film academy is that this time, new films that have not been released in OTT or theaters have been included in the fair. But despite the Academy’s explanation, films released in OTT, including those in the Tamil film category, are being screened at the fair.

Meanwhile, AIYF state president and academy member N. Arun sent a letter to the Chief Minister. There is no consultation on any matter including the conduct of film festivals. Arun also says that Ranjith implements unilateral decisions without the knowledge of the members.
