Actor Heinz Hoenig‘s life is in danger. His wife now gives insights into her emotional world – and gives details about her husband’s lack of insurance.
The family members of actor Heinz Hoenig are anxiously waiting for good news from the hospital. Hoenig has to undergo “urgent, life-saving heart surgery,” as has been known since Friday morning. As if that wasn’t dramatic enough, his condition recently appears to be so critical that the procedure has to be postponed. RTL and “Bild” reported on Saturday that the actor was in a coma.
“I really tried everything”
“My husband is in a life-threatening condition. I’ve never been as scared in my life as I am now,” she expressed her desperation. She’s obviously having a hard time thinking clearly right now – “I just know I don’t want to lose my husband.”
Annika Hoenig also confirms that the 72-year-old “Das Boot” star does not have health insurance. Accordingly, she has been trying “to get him into health insurance for three years. I’ve really tried everything,” she says, criticizing that she “never got any information” that was “necessary” for Hoenig’s insurance. What exactly she means by that remains unclear.
An employee of a health insurance company has now offered her help: “This is what happened last week.” Now she wants to get Heinz Hoenig into a “mandatory follow-up insurance”; the “process is currently ongoing,” the 39-year-old told RTL. “Money is totally unimportant to me,” she says and continues: “But of course everything has to be paid for.”
According to management, the cost of the operation is “a higher six-figure sum, which Mr. Hoenig cannot afford at the moment due to a lack of health insurance.”
A fundraising campaign on the “Go Fund Me” platform, set up by Hoenig’s family and his good friend Ralph Siegel, is intended to help cover the high costs. There is a fundraising goal of 50,000 euros. It is still unclear when the operation, which was actually scheduled for last Friday (May 3rd), can be rescheduled.
Annika Hoenig firmly believes that her husband will do everything he can to continue to be there for her and their two children: “I know that Heinz wants to live. There is nothing he wants more than to live! He is very strong. And I know that he fights for us.” Their two sons are one and a half and three years old. Heinz Hoenig has two adult children from a previous relationship.
