Corruption: Wilfried Houngbédji reassures the determination of the Talon regime

“The government was right to consider that the fight against corruption and bad governance is an everyday affair”. This is what government spokesman Wilfried Léandre Houngbédji said when asked about the resurgence of acts of corruption which continue despite the fact that his fight constitutes the workhorse of the government. It was after the Council of Ministers on Wednesday July 05, 2023 that he spoke on the subject. For him, if, despite the prevention and sanction measures put in place, it happens that executives allow themselves misconduct with the management of public resources, the latter will be called to answer for their actions. “Thereupon, the President of the Republic has always invited the government and justice has been instructed since the government’s criminal policy to have a heavy hand against the perpetrators of corruption,” he reassured. Contrary to a few years ago, to believe it, justice is doing its job and the sanctions are falling. The government spokesperson recalled that the objective of the approach, which consisted for the government of proceeding with a call for applications, sorting, passing interviews and psychotechnical texts to applicants, all of which was completed by morality surveys before their registration in the national file, their draw and then their appointment, the purpose is to be able to have competent and honest executives. Wilfried Houngbédji maintains that once in office, it is up to executives to position themselves and demonstrate integrity.
