New Delhi,

The 18th World Athletics Championships will be held in Eugene, USA from tomorrow till the 24th. The 22-member Indian athletics team will be led by Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra.

In this regard, he said in an interview yesterday,

I am well prepared for the World Athletics Championships. My confidence is also high. Recently I participated in 3 competitions. I passed my personal maximum distance in two of them. I won gold in one. I played consistently in all 3 matches without a hitch. That’s what matters.

I can do better and throw the javelin over 90 meters. I came very close (89.94m) to 90m at the Diamond League in Stockholm. So I hope to show my best performance in the World Championship. I will be going into this tournament with the same kind of mindset I was in at the Tokyo Olympics. I focus on performing to the best of my ability and don’t stress myself out.

In the 2017 World Championships in London, he had to go out in the qualifying round. So I won’t take the qualifying round lightly this time. I learned a lot from the 2017 competition. If you don’t perform well in the qualifying round then you won’t be able to qualify for the final round. So I will focus fully on the qualifiers and give my best effort.

Neeraj Chopra said this.
