The new MK Limor Son Har-Malech of the Otzma Yehudit party, put her first bill on the Knesset table, according to which terrorists with a blue identity card who carried out murderous attacks against Israeli citizens and were released from prison, will be removed from the place of the attack as well as from the place of residence of the families of the victims of the attack, similarly to the section in the law on victims of sex offenders.
The bill drafted by Son Har-Malech, a victim of terrorism herself who killed her husband Shuli Har-Malech in a shooting attack, together with the Bereaved Families’ Life Choice Forum, was designed to prevent cases in which a terrorist resident of a certain city carried out an attack in his city and resulted in the death of Israeli citizens. But he was finally released from prison. Now, he returns home and every day meets the families who lost their loved ones in the attack, when he is free and smiling, which adds salt to their wounds at every encounter on the street.
The bill has immediate significance on the ground, since in the coming months the Israeli terrorists Karim and Maher Younes, who brutally murdered the soldier Avraham Blumberg, will be released from prison. They will return to live in Bara near the home of the bereaved Bromberg family from Zichron Ya’akov. Munir Rajavi, a resident of Haifa who helped carry out a deadly attack in the city, will also be released and return to the city where 14 of his victims live.
The bill is signed by dozens of MKs, including the chairman of Otzma Yehudit Itamar Ben Gabir, the chairman of Religious Zionism Bezalel Smotrich, members of Knesset Moshe Saada and Boaz Bismut from the Likud and MK Moshe Abutbol from Shas.
Son Har-Malech said in response to the bill: “The reality in which victims of terrorism will meet the terrorists who murdered their loved ones are free and smiling every time they go to the supermarket, the shopping mall or the synagogue, is unimaginable and requires immediate change. The sentence for such despicable terrorists is death or deportation from the country, But at least for the time being, the application of this basic law must be carried out.”
The forum for choosing life for the bereaved families and the victims of terrorism stated: “In less than two weeks, a wave of releases of terrorists who hold a blue identity card and are about to return to Israel’s territory, as if they have never committed an act of terrorism against its residents, will begin. We hope that the removal law will be passed, and together with the law denying citizenship to terrorists will ensure that we will not meet the murderers of our children on the streets. We demand that the members of the Knesset and the ministers exempt the aforementioned laws from the duty of assumption and pass them even before the terrorists return to the streets of Israel.”
