Raipur: The foreign affairs resolution presented in the plenum today highlights the role played by the Congress in making post-independence India a global superpower. The resolution promises to make the country a global superpower if it comes back to power. India’s foreign policy has been a model for the world since the time of the first Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. India’s policy at that time was to create a group of equally powerful non-aligned countries as an alternative to the superpowers and formulate development plans through mutual understanding. This will make it stronger.

The Overseas Ministry, formed by the previous UPA government, will be reinstated to discuss and resolve various issues of overseas Indians.
India will not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. At the same time, there is no laxity in the border protection of the country. Terrorist movements crossing the border and domestic sources of support will be resisted without any loopholes. Better relations will be established with the neighboring countries of Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Myanmar. It will help Sri Lanka to deal with its economic collapse. But they should change their attitude to establish better relations with Pakistan. Their current financial status may not allow them to repeat the extravaganzas like Pulwama and Pathankot. Their anti-India attitudes are also the reason behind such a huge financial collapse. Pakistan cannot move forward without learning lessons from it all. Congress will devise strategic plans to ensure India’s security.
Stronger action is also needed in China. The line of control will be strong and transparent. International organizational activities will be strengthened, including membership in the United Nations Security Council. The National Security Advisory Board will be revamped and strengthened. The resolution also states that the Congress will stick to its previous positions on issues like nuclear non-proliferation, air pollution and climate change.
