South African cricketer Abd Villiers retired from all forms of cricket a year ago.

South African legend Abd Villiers has announced that he will join Royal Challengers Bangalore again for the IPL 2023 series. However, he has also mentioned that he will not join as a player.

De Villiers, who recently underwent an eye surgery, also mentioned that he will not be playing anymore. With the IPL returning to the Chinnaswamy Stadium next year, he has said that he will support Royal Challengers Bangalore to win the trophy.

During a social media conversation he said:-

Next year I will go to Chinnaswamy Stadium. But not to play cricket. I am going to apologize to Royal Challengers Bangalore fans for not winning the IPL trophy.

We also want to thank them for their support over the past ten years. I can’t play cricket anymore. Because I am having surgery on my right eye.

Announcing his upcoming YouTube channel, De Villiers spoke about his future projects. During this conversation he also mentioned that he has no intention of becoming a coach at the moment.

De Villiers, who has called an end to his illustrious cricket career, has indicated that spending time with his family is his priority at the moment.

And when he says I’m definitely not planning on coaching a team. I would definitely like to share all the things I have learned. But the time will come. But as of now I am not ready to join any team.

The coach has to travel again and again to every corner of the world. After traveling for almost 18 years, I now want to spend some time with my family.

One of the leading players in IPL history, AB Villiers has scored 5,162 runs in 184 IPL matches at an average of 39.7 and a strike rate of 151.

In international cricket, he played 114 Tests, 228 ODIs and 78 T20Is for South Africa and scored over 18,000 runs in all three formats.
