Prabhas is the star actor of southern cinema. He starred in the much talked about movie ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. Directed by Nag Ashwin, his co-stars include Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani.

The release of this movie with a budget of 600 crore rupees was delayed due to various reasons including the corona crisis. The movie was released on 5,600 screens worldwide on June 27 after overcoming all obstacles. It took the box office by storm after its release. Prabhas fans, some box office analysts, movie insiders claim that ‘Kalki’ will earn more than Rs 1000 crore worldwide. But is it really possible? Box office analysts from various Indian industries have criticized the earnings of the movie ‘Kalki’. Their comment – ‘Kalki’ movie team members are increasing the amount of income.

Box office analyst Sumit Kadel told India Today, “Kalki’ is doing well. But it’s not doing exceptionally well. But many portals and box office related people are highlighting it excessively. Ultimately the movie will gross Rs 800-850 crore worldwide. But the team members of this movie have convinced everyone that it will earn more than Rs 1000 crore worldwide.”

It is said that the income of the movie ‘Kalki’ has increased to 100 crore rupees. Referring to this information, Sumit Kadel said, “Everyone wants to show that his movie is doing well at the box office. But the case of ‘Kalki’ movie is an exception. I am shocked at what they are doing here! Many managers exaggerate income numbers. But there is a gap of 5-7 crore rupees. But the ‘Kalki’ team is saying Rs 90-100 crore higher than the real income, which is unacceptable.”

According to Saknilk, the movie ‘Kalki’ earned Rs 370.2 crore (net) in India alone in 6 days. Out of which Rs.193.3 crores came from the Telugu market. And earned Rs. 141 crores from Hindi market. It earned Rs 600 crore (gross) worldwide.

According to this information, the earnings of ‘Kalki’ movie is sky high. But another box office analyst Rohit Jaswal disagrees with this.

Rohit Jaswal told India Today, “You will notice that ‘Kalki’ is not doing well in the Telugu market. People of Hindi belt are watching it. If you explain, you will understand. The mythology portion of the movie has a distinct appeal to the Hindi speaking audience. And because the movie stars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, the audience is going to the theatres.”

“If indeed ‘Kalki’ has a target of Rs 1,000 crore worldwide, the film will have to earn Rs 300 crore from the Telugu market alone. In real sense, the movie will be a ‘hit’ or ‘super hit’ in the Hindi version. But the movie will not be able to earn Rs 1000 crore worldwide. It will earn Rs 800-850 crore.” Rohit Jaswal said.

6 Indian movies have crossed the Rs 1000 crore mark worldwide. Two of these movies are from Bollywood. Which was released last year. These two movies are – ‘Pathan’ (grossing Rs. 1055 crores worldwide), ‘Jawan’ (grossing Rs. 1160 crores worldwide). Shahrukh Khan acted in both these movies. Is it possible for ‘Kalki’?

Explaining this, box office analyst Sumit Kadel told India Today, “Both the films Pathan and Jawaan had a great response in the UAE. But there is no presence of Prabhas. Basically, ‘Kalki’ movie will earn from US and Canada market. All in all, ‘Kalki’ will not be able to touch the Rs 900 crore milestone.”

Box office analyst Ramesh Bala has given some explanation about the process of calculating the revenue of Indian movies. He told India Today, ‘People depend on the figures of the producers and team members of the film regarding the earnings of the film. It is always debated. Each state has a different calculation. People in the trade rely on statistics from producers. Sometimes each state has its own trackers, who provide us with the information. Then we count, then the final number is published.’
