Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has said it will react strongly to Iranian-backed insurgent Houthis’ cowardly extremist activities in the Gulf region. Saudi Arabia has said that attacks on civilians targeting human settlements in defiance of international law are cowardly and war crimes. The Saudi coalition has intercepted and destroyed eight drones fired at Saudi Arabia following a Houthi attack on two oil tanks in Abu Dhabi. In addition to killing the Yemeni people and disturbing the peace, the Houthis are inciting them to commit acts of terrorism. Saudi Arabia has said it will retaliate against such extremist activities aimed at destabilizing security in the region. Saudi Arabia had put forward a number of ideas to bring together all parties seeking peace in Yemen to reach a comprehensive political solution. However, they have blocked international waterways at no cost and launched direct attacks on the country and the UAE. Saudi Arabia has warned that this is a violation of international conventions.
The Saudis strongly condemned the Abu Dhabi attack, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, called Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander, to assess the situation and support the joint defense.
