Today, May 10, at 5 a.m., Russian troops began an offensive in the direction of Kharkov. According to the latest data from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the first attacks of the Russian invaders, who tried to break through the Ukrainian positions with the help of armored vehicles, have been repulsed. In connection with the beginning of the offensive of Russian troops, people had questions: does Russia have a chance to occupy Kharkov? Reserve Major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexey Getman assessed the situation at the front.

The expert’s words are reported by RBC-Ukraine.

According to the latest estimates, Russian troops concentrated in the border Kursk region have reached an impressive number of up to 70 thousand troops. However, despite this significant contingent, the capture of Kharkov seems to be a very difficult task.

Major of the reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexey Getman, notes that such a number of troops does not make them capable of a direct assault or encirclement of Kharkov. However, he cautions that this does not mean the group will not carry out assaults. He notes that they can be transferred to other sectors of the front, or begin tactical operations in other areas.

The expert also notes that the Russian invaders may try to attack in order to smear the Ukrainian defense, or use this contingent for a strategic transfer to other sectors of the front where offensive operations are already planned.

Earlier, Kursor reported that Russia had launched a new large-scale offensive in the direction of Kharkov. Today, at 5 o’clock in the morning, Russian troops attempted to break through the Ukrainian defenses, using armored vehicles as cover.
