Will Smith Opens Up About “Tumultuous” Relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith
In a recent appearance at Baltimore’s Enoch Pratt Library, Will Smith spoke candidly about his relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith. The couple made headlines earlier this year when Jada revealed that they had been separated for six years before the infamous 2022 Oscars slap.
During the event promoting Jada’s new memoir, “Worthy,” Will took the opportunity to express his support for his wife. In an emotional speech, he said, “I just really wanted to come out and just be here and hold it down for you the way you have held it down for me.” He described their relationship as “bruitful,” saying, “It was brutal and beautiful at the same time.”
“Our union is a sloppy public experiment. It is a sloppy public experiment in unconditional love,” the actor continued. He shared that he is happier than ever and feels that he has achieved everything he ever wanted in life. He credited Jada for supporting him throughout his career and as a family, mentioning their children Willow, Jaden, and Trey Smith.
Will posed a thought-provoking question to the audience, asking if it’s possible to “show up and love somebody for the rest of your life, even when you don’t agree with them.” He praised Jada as the best friend he has ever had and vowed to support her for the rest of their lives.
Jada Pinkett Smith also recently opened up about their marriage in an NBC News primetime special.
