Will Smith has responded to the revelations made by his estranged wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, in her new memoir “Worthy.” The 55-year-old actor wrote a letter to British podcaster, author, and life coach Jay Shetty, who read the message to Pinkett Smith on his podcast “On Purpose.”

In the letter, Smith expressed his shock and admiration for Pinkett Smith’s memoir, stating that despite having lived most of his life by her side, he was still caught off guard by the stories she shared. He praised her for her bravery in excavating the depths of her experiences and regretted not showing her more affection throughout their 25-year marriage.

“If I had read this book 30 years ago, I definitely would have hugged you more. I’ll start now. Welcome to the Authors Club. I love you endlessly. Now go get some Merlot and take a rest,” Smith wrote in the letter.

“Worthy” is set to hit bookstores on Oct. 17 and includes bombshells about Pinkett Smith’s marriage, including the revelation that she and Smith have been separated since 2016 and that she considered Tupac Shakur her soul mate.

After hearing Smith’s words, Pinkett Smith laughed and expressed her joy at his message. She teared up when discussing his acknowledgment that he would have taken more time to listen and understand her.

Smith had previously broken his silence about the memoir in an email to the New York Times, stating that the revelations “kind of woke [him] up” and recognizing Pinkett Smith’s resilience and compassion.

Despite their separation, the couple, who have two children together, have no plans to divorce. Pinkett Smith has made a promise to work through any challenges they face and has not been able to break that promise.
