The increase in targeted social assistance is directly related to the change in the need criterion.
Vugar Bayramov, a member of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, said this while answering Trend’s questions, Day.Az reports.
He noted that when the amount of the need criterion increases, the amount of targeted social assistance automatically increases.
“In recent years, the amount of the need criterion has been increased. This has also affected the amount of targeted social assistance. When the budget package for 2025 is presented, it will be determined at what level the increase in targeted social assistance will be. If the budget package contains a document related to the increase in the need criterion, then in practice this will lead to the fact that from January 2025 the amount of targeted social assistance will also increase,” Bayramov said.
It should be noted that, according to information from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, provided to Trend, 4 billion 382 million manats were allocated for pensions, benefits, scholarships and targeted state social assistance to the population in January-June of this year. This is 408.5 million manats, or 10.3 percent more than in the same period last year.
