For example, from the data that reached ONE, a football team from the Premier League that received a sum of NIS 174,569 in 2020, will apparently receive only NIS 91,652 in 2021. There is also a decrease in Leumit, from NIS 87,284 to NIS 45,826 within a year. League A teams that received NIS 43,642 last year are now expected to receive only NIS 22,913. In fact, it is ostensibly a 47% cut for each team in the first four leagues, while the budgets of the fifth league teams have also been cut by 48%.
There is also a significant gap in basketball according to the data. The senior league teams that received NIS 111,358 from the state last year will allegedly receive only NIS 69,822 this year, according to the updated data. This is a 37% cut, which will also apply to the other leagues at a similar rate, if these are indeed the final data for 2021. If this does happen, it will significantly hurt the budgets of Israeli basketball teams, which is considered a very popular industry in the country.

On paper, other team ball industries will also absorb cuts. A senior volleyball team from the Premier League, which received a budget of NIS 54,233 in 2020, will have to settle for NIS 46,029 for 2021. In handball, after receiving NIS 91,939 last year, this year a total of NIS 78,359 will go into the bank accounts of the leading teams. By the way, this is a decrease of 15% and this is another acceptable decrease, after all, according to the promises, the cuts will be up to 75%.
Because this is the same budget cake and therefore the question arises, where does the money go? According to the data, more budgets were allocated to youth groups, where sometimes they were even doubled. According to the available data, a youth team in Israeli football will receive a 110% increase in its budget this year, then it will receive NIS 45,926 compared to the NIS 21,821 it received last year. A youth basketball team will record a 151% increase over what it received last year, after its amount jumped from NIS 13,920 to NIS 34,911 in registrations. In volleyball, too, there is a 70% increase for youth teams.

Although some will say that this increase in the budgets of the youth departments is welcome because it is time for the state to take care of the development of the future generation, but on the other hand, strangely enough, the budgets of the boys ‘and girls’ groups will also be affected according to existing data. For example, the budgets of a girls’ football team have decreased by 65% and in basketball by 58% according to the available data.
These funds are divided according to a score earned by each association, according to the industry and its league data, so that in practice each team receives money according to a calculation of the value of the points accumulated according to different criteria. Recently, the Ministry of Culture and Sports reformed the distribution of budgets to Israeli sports, so it was decided to give teams and industries a higher score for achievements at the expense of the number of athletes. This is probably what has led to the current situation in which the strong and popular industries have fallen in their budgets, but there is no doubt that this is an unusual and illogical decline, if these are the final figures for 2021.

On the other hand, by the way, oddly enough, the point value of the football industry will skyrocket fourfold, and both softball and dormers get a relatively high value of score, which surpasses football and basketball. Thus, the question arises whether the state intends to allocate more funds to small industries that are mostly non-Olympic and do not interest the public because they are more “successful”?
The Ministry of Culture and Sports claims that the sums are not final, which is contrary to promises. The teams in the ball industries, who did not know what amount they would receive from the state at the end of the current year and relied on to receive more or less the same amounts from last year in the last update, fear that they may be in trouble after withdrawing money from their bank accounts. At the height of the cut in a short time of a month so that they can end the year with a balanced budget and avoid a deficit. And again, these would mean that you have to spend for these processes. But this is just a band-aid, because the damage to their activities in 2022 may be greater, since from next year there will be no defense associations, and no group yet has information about the amount of budgets that will be distributed to them later.
