Will the new accessory allow the Apple gadget to work without charging for up to 10 years?

Elevation Lab announced the launch of TimeCapsule, a unique and simple solution to extend the operating time of the Apple AirTag. This $20 case (approximately 2,000 rubles at the exchange rate as of December 19, 2024 – Gazeta.Ru) is equipped with two AA batteries, which provides a capacity 14 times greater than the standard CR2032 battery used in the AirTag. That is, with TimeCapsule, the Apple tracker can work for up to 10 years without the need to replace the battery.

As Day.Az reports, this was reported by MacRumors.

The TimeCapsule works by connecting the top housing of the AirTag to a special contact inside the case, which provides power instead of a coin cell battery. The case is then secured with screws and can be hidden in a car, luggage, camera bag or other valuable item. With an IP69 rating, the case can withstand water and dust in harsh environments, making it suitable for outdoor use.

While the TimeCapsule adds weight and size to the AirTag due to the need to accommodate AA batteries, it remains thin enough to fit well in bags without bulking up. The device measures 4.45 by 1.57 inches and is 0.75 inches thick.

“Because of its inconspicuous nature, the case does not attract attention, so if something containing a TimeCapsule is stolen, the thief is unlikely to know what it is,” writes MacRumors.
