New Delhi: Government telecom company BSNL is going to start 5G services soon. This is expected to give tough competition to big companies like Jio and Airtel. BSNL has taken this step at a time when people are being encouraged on social media to leave the expensive services of Jio and Airtel and adopt BSNL. BSNL has partnered with many startups and companies to start its 5G services. Consumers are expected to get 5G services at cheaper prices. So far, only Reliance Jio and Airtel are providing 5G services in the country. But, in the coming days, both these companies are afraid of losing their customers due to BSNL’s offer. BSNL’s target is to start the trial of 5G in collaboration with startups and companies in the coming months. In this trial, the focus will be on setting up a private network (CNPN) first.

What will be the work of BSNL in the partnership?

In this partnership, BSNL will provide spectrum, infrastructure and resources, while the partner companies will take care of delivering the services. BSNL has received trial proposals from several leading Indian companies such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Lekha Wireless and Amantya Technologies. These companies will explore various 5G-based services such as voice, video, data, network slicing, private automatic branch exchange (PABX).

Union Telecom Minister gave this information

On the other hand, in Gwalior on Saturday, Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the number of BSNL customers is increasing. The company’s domestic 4G network is also ready. Work is underway to convert it into 5G. Scindia said, ‘Many people had asked that when Jio, Airtel and Vodafone started 4G network, why did BSNL not do so? It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve that if we have to develop the network of a government company, then we will not use equipment from China or any other foreign country.’

Scindia said that under ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, Prime Minister Modi has resolved that India will develop its own 4G stack, core system or tower. It is called Radiation Access Network (RAN). India will develop its own technology and provide 4G network to the countrymen. It took us one and a half years. India has become the fifth country to have its own indigenous technology. The work of installing towers is going on. Indian companies like Tejas Network, C-DOT and TCS are working in various fields. BSNL is implementing it.

According to the Union Minister, 80,000 towers will be installed by the end of October. The target is to install the remaining 21,000 by March next year. Recently, major telecom companies like Jio, Airtel and Vodafone increased their tariffs. BSNL got direct benefit from this. When other companies increased their plans, BSNL’s plans remained cheaper in comparison. This attracted those customers towards BSNL who wanted more data and calling facilities at a lower cost.
