Madurai: Tamil Nadu Food Traders Association has said that only Tamil Nadu has not set up a ‘Samadana Scheme’ to collect the unpaid balance due to the confusion of ‘VAT’ after switching from ‘VAT’ to GST scheme.

Association President Velshankar, Honorary Secretary Sai Subramaniam, Honorable Aleshakar Jayaprakasa said in Madurai:
Such a problem arose in 2006 when the transition from general sales tax to ‘VAT’ occurred. A peace plan was brought in and the arrears owed by the merchants to the government were collected. 40 per cent of the tax payable was adjusted without interest, penalty.

Similarly, even after the transition from VAT to GST, businessmen have to pay tax dues. Interest is also accrued. Government will also get tax revenue if peace plan is made and tax exemption is announced. Traders can also do business with peace of mind. Central Government has also collected Central Excise Duty through Peace Scheme. In all other states this practice has been completed.
In Tamil Nadu, the peace plan was not announced and implemented during the regime of former Chief Minister Palaniswami. Chief Minister Stalin also announced this plan and did not implement it. Start the project soon and collect the tax.
One percent market duty is payable only if the agricultural produce is sold within the regulated market. Only in Tamil Nadu market fee is charged even outside the sales hall.
Fearing this tax, traders in Tamil Nadu who buy pulses and pulses from foreign countries ‘repack’ them and send them to Kerala.
If you sell from here, 5 percent GST and 2.5 percent tax will be directly available to Tamil Nadu. This tax revenue goes to other states. So the government should cancel the market fee.
