New Delhi: The domestic stock market will remain closed on July 17 on the occasion of Muharram. Along with the stock market, trading of currency and commodity-related derivatives will also remain closed for the whole day. However, trading of commodity-related derivatives and electronic gold receipts will remain closed for half a day. It will be from 9 am to 5 pm. The evening session will run from 5 pm to 11:30 pm/11:55 pm. There will be no trading in the morning session in MCX as well but trading will take place in the evening session. After Muharram, the stock market will remain closed on the occasion of Independence Day (15 August), Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (2 October), Diwali (1 November), Guru Nanak Jayanti (15 November) and Christmas (25 December).

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the domestic markets rose for the third consecutive session in early trade amid foreign capital inflows and a rise in US markets and the Nifty reached its new all-time peak. The 30-share BSE index Sensex rose 185.55 points to 80,850.41 points in early trade. The NSE Nifty gained 63.35 points to a new all-time peak of 24,650.05 points. Among the companies listed on the Sensex, shares of Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Infosys, ICICI Bank and Titan were the biggest gainers. Shares of Power Grid, Larsen & Toubro, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Axis Bank suffered losses.

In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi and Japan’s Nikkei were in profit, while China’s Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were in loss. US markets closed with a positive trend on Monday. Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 0.27 percent lower at US $ 84.62 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) remained buyers in the capital market on Monday and bought shares worth Rs 2,684.78 crore net.
