Electoral propaganda: the scandal… episode 2? Several La Poste unions have filed several strike notices for the coming days, locally or nationally, contesting the additional burden represented by the distribution of electoral propaganda, for which the company is now responsible, after concerns for regional elections with the private service provider Adrexo. It is still unclear whether the distribution of electoral folds will actually be disrupted.

The CGT-FAPT branches in Morbihan and Finistère thus filed a 24-hour strike notice, “every day of the week”, from April 4 to 9, i.e. until the eve of the first round of the presidential election. “While the Post office pockets several million euros for electoral envelopes, it does not want to give anything to the postal workers”, deplore the unions, in a joint press release. In Calvados, Pas-de-Calais and Loire-Atlantique, local strike notices have also been filed, carried by one or more unions. Some strike notices have also been filed to lobby more broadly for other demands, such as bonuses or new hires.

A series of notices at the national level

“We do not know to what extent the movement will be followed,” explains Parisian Eddy Talbot, head of the Sud PTT union. The latter filed a series of strike notices at the national level to disrupt the distribution of electoral envelopes, from March 30. “We have to do this mission in our classic tour, there is an additional charge”, he justifies, calling for “lump sum compensation”, whatever its form. Distribution in some departments will only begin in the next few days.

La Poste is put under pressure by the distribution of electoral folds. The market returned to him entirely after the failure of their distribution during the last regional elections. Adrexo, who had been in charge of them, had failed to deliver them on time. On the day of the election, millions of French people had received neither the profession of faith of the candidates nor the ballot papers.
