The Football Association is still stuck: Chairman Oren Hasson is confused about the possibility of appointing Barak Bachar, which leads to appreciation among the association’s members – that a foreign coach will soon be appointed in place of Willy Rotensteiner.
Hasson understands the situation correctly, at least for now: Maccabi Haifa is interested in offering Barak Bachar a new contract, Jackie Ben Zaken will not be in a hurry to release Ran Ben Shimon from MS. Ashdod, and Alon Hazan succeed in the young team – and removing him from the process he is going through with the players there, would be a wrong step.
In the next two weeks, Hasson will include the members of the search committee, which includes Shino Zoarz, Eli Ohana and Eli (the “sheriff”) Cohen, and will be presented with a number of potential foreign coaches. According to the same sources, the chairman of the Football Association wants to close the matter of the national coach as early as next month and not wait too long.
As a reminder, Rotensteiner, who recently landed in Israel after the Christmas holidays, submitted a report to the Football Association and even met with Hasson.
The Austrian even stated that he believes in his ability to qualify with the team for Euro 2024, but beyond the professional side, the association were not satisfied throughout the last campaign with the Austrian coach’s conduct on several key issues.
