Will Zoabi’s retirement affect the flag parade? The organizers are apprehensive

by time news

Meretz MK Jida Rinawi-Zoabi dropped a political bomb today (Thursday) and announced her resignation from the coalition. Following various publications according to which her resignation stems, among other things, from the approval of the flag march throughout the city of Jerusalem, including the Nablus Gate and Hagai Street – the organizers of the march fear that the government intends to cancel the march as part of a “basket of benefits” offered to Zoabi to return to the coalition.

“Unfortunately, in the last few hours, we have been hearing voices from the ‘basket of benefits’ offered to MK Zoabi to return to the coalition, including the cancellation of the flag dance parade,” say members of the Am Kalbia association, which organizes the march.

The organizers say that “the flag dance came to express the unification of Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty forever, in a happy march of tens of thousands marching with Israeli flags all over the city that was joined together 55 years ago. “.

“We appeal to all those for whom Jerusalem is important, and to all those who have the hearts of Israel in all generations pulsating in their hearts, not to agree to give up the unity of Jerusalem in exchange for cheap political gains.”

Minister Bar-Lev stated: The flag dance will take place at the Nablus Gate and in the Muslim Quarter

After a discussion that took place on Tuesday and dealt with preparations for the march, Minister of Internal Security Amar Bar-Lev decided that the event would pass through the Nablus Gate and the Muslim Quarter in the Old City. The parade will take place on May 29th.

The discussion was attended by Police Commissioner Major General Kobi Shabtai and Jerusalem District Commander Doron Turgeman, at the end of which the Minister of Internal Security decided to accept the police recommendation to hold the flag parade in the layout used in most years – through Nablus Gate and from there to Hagai Street to the Western Wall.
