William Rudo sworn in as President of Kenya

The general election for the post of President was held on August 9 in the Republic of Kenya in Africa. William Ruto won by a narrow margin over opposition candidate Raila Odinga.

William Ruto was the Deputy President of Uhuru Kenyatta who was stepping down as President of Kenya.

Kenya’s Supreme Court, which heard cases challenging the official results to invalidate the election victory, rejected those petitions last week.

Today, William Ruto was sworn in as the 5th President of Kenya. Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto shook hands and spoke at today’s swearing-in ceremony to the delight of the crowd.
