The Cuban singer Willy Chirino received a surprise when two YouTubers made a video that showed the location of the house in Consolación del Sur, Pinar del Río, where the composer exiled in Miami was born.
The recommendation to see the audiovisual came from the journalist Mario Vallejo, who through his Facebook profile made a call to the renowned artist of the island.

The images show several places in the town of Pinar del Río, including what was the birthplace of the multi-award-winning performer. Additionally, the Cuban youth visited the local church, where Willy Chirino made a donation in 2005, and discovered a digital watch that he donated.
Then, they talk with some residents of Consolación, who remember the singer, although some admit that they are not familiar with his music as it is not broadcast on state channels.
Chirino commented on the publication of the journalist, winner of three EMMY awards for excellence in TV: “Thank you Mario. It always hits me hard when I see images of my hometown. The audiovisual also shows the neighborhood where the singer grew up and they discover what was his birthplace, which is currently divided. According to the authors, the current owners have no relationship with him, but they know his legacy and contributions to the town.
Finally, they reflect on how many Cubans know Willy Chirino more abroad than in their own land, Cuba, a phenomenon comparable to that of Cuba’s Guarachera, Celia Cruz, they say.

There have been many comments for the artist who was born in that town in 1947 and who emigrated to the United States at the age of 14. Among them, that of one of the authors of the video, named Mario Sergio on Facebook.

Willy thanked the YouTuber “for taking me on a journey to my childhood. “It’s very true that I was running around in those streets and playing ball…How much I miss my little town,” said the winner of a Grammy Award for Best Salsa/Merengue Album in 2006 and a Latin Grammy for Musical Excellence in 2014, among other awards. .
