Hubert Hurkacz pulled himself forward to the net. Nothing worked for Paul in the Wimbledon match against the French Arthur Fils. With a match point against him, number seven on the seeding list had to retire – but for a few minutes he had set himself a point.
In pain, Hurkacz threw his white cap on the grass and with a heavy heart congratulated his counterpart in the net for their victory.
It was so close to pushing the game into the fifth set. In the fourth set it was 7:7, Hurkacz was 1:2 behind the sets and dived to the net in the style of Boris Becker for volleyball, which he even reached and played into the field Fils. Hurkacz was lying on the ground and Fils had only to play the ball into the Pole court – but the ball felt stuck on the edge of the net and with applause from the spectators it was Hurkacz’s set point .

But the Hole was injured during his mission. He was on his knees and needed a break from treatment. With a large bandage on his right knee, Hurkacz, who was seeded seventh at Wimbledon and could be his semi-final opponent Alexander Zverev, tried again. But nothing more worked, even if he limped into the next rally.
The sober numbers on the scoreboard were 6:7, 4:6 6:2. 6:6 and in the tiebreak 8:9 for Hurkacz before his knee went on strike.
