The Flaviense team beat Oliveirense, 0-3, in the ninth round of Serie 2
In the ninth round of Series 2, Chaves went to Oliveira de Azeméis to beat Oliveirense, 0-3, in Filipe Rocha’s final match as coach of the unionists. In a great performance by the Flavienses, Paul Ayongo, André Ricardo and Rúben Pina scored the goals.
Chaves was better in the opening minutes. The Flavienses controlled possession of the ball and showed more intent to reach the goal. Oliveirense struggled to create plays with discretion and it was no surprise that the visitors came out on top. Nuno Macedo also made a great save from a Rui Gomes header, but, on the rebound, Paul Ayongo missed and scored the first of the game, in the 23rd minute. It should be noted that the Oliveirense goalkeeper had many complaints after the match and did not come back for the second half.
After the goal, Oliveira de Azeméis’ team tried to respond and even finished the first half slightly on top, but they failed to really threaten Vozinha’s goal and the result was 0-1 at half time.
Chaves’ second goal came shortly after the restart. Once again, Paul Ayongo was in the spotlight, this time in the role of assistant, serving André Ricardo, who just shot into the empty goal. It was 0-2 after 49 minutes.
The home team’s reaction came 10 minutes later, but Zé Manuel’s goal was disallowed for a challenge from Filipe Alves, who crossed.
Olivirense took control of the game and showed a desire to reduce the deficit, but lacked assertiveness in the final third.
Oliveirense didn’t score… Chaves scored. Arthur Augusto, who came on at half-time to replace Nuno Macedo, fouled Paulo Victor and the referee had no doubts about awarding a penalty. Converting the maximum penalty, Rúben Pina scored the visitors’ third, in the 80th minute.
Until the end, Marco Alves’ men were always on top and could even increase their advantage, but the result never changed.
With this result, Chaves now has 12 points, while Oliveirense is still at the bottom, with five points.
