Kolkata: Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been named the vice-captain of the Indian team for the Twenty20 series against the West Indies. This was announced by the BCCI.

The BCCI has appointed Rohit Sharma as the new deputy batsman after the injured KL Rahul missed the West Indies series.

The first match of the three-match Twenty20 series will be played on February 16 in Kolkata.

Rahul is unable to play due to a leg injury. The name of the ball is already being touted as one of the future captains of the team. This is confirmed by the fact that the selection panel headed by Chetan Sharma has now considered the ball for the post of vice-captain.

The ball, which has guided Delhi Capitals in the IPL, has already proved that he can shine in the captaincy role.
