Windows 11 Build 26200.5761 Rolls Out to Dev Channel with Seamless App Resume and enhanced Features

The latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5761 (KB5064093) has been released to the Dev Channel, bringing a wave of new features, improvements, and fixes for Insiders eager to test the cutting edge of Microsoft’s operating system. This update focuses heavily on cross-device functionality, performance enhancements, and refinements to existing features, signaling Microsoft’s continued commitment to a connected and intuitive user experience.

seamless App Resume Between Android and PC

One of the most significant additions in this build is the ability to seamlessly resume apps from an Android phone on a Windows 11 PC. “We are beginning to gradually roll out the ability to seamlessly resume using your favorite apps from your Android phone on your Windows 11 PC,” a senior official stated. Currently, this feature is focused on Spotify, allowing users to continue listening to tracks and episodes on their PC directly from where they left off on their Android device.

The process is designed to be intuitive: simply start playing content on Spotify on your phone, and a “Resume alert” will appear on your PC’s taskbar. clicking this alert will open Spotify’s desktop app and continue playback. If Spotify isn’t already installed, the alert will initiate a one-click installation from the Microsoft Store. Users will need to be logged into the same Spotify account on both devices for the feature to function.

To enable this functionality, users must first grant their PC access to their mobile devices via settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mobile devices, and ensure the Link to Windows app is installed on their Android phone.

Improvements and Fixes

beyond the app resume feature, this build includes several notable improvements. Work has been done to address instances where facial recognition would fail despite initial success. Additionally, underlying work has been done to enhance gaming performance, notably for users with multiple monitors of varying refresh rates. for developers,a fix is included for a Visual Studio crash on Arm64 PCs related to Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF),requiring the installation of the KB5064402 .NET update.

Known Issues and Workarounds

Despite the extensive improvements, several known issues remain. Windows Insiders in the EEA may experience issues with recall functionality, requiring a reset of the feature via Settings > Privacy & security > Recall & snapshots > Advanced settings. The Shared section in File Explorer Home may also appear even when no content is present.

Users are also reporting issues with Settings > System > Storage > Temporary files getting stuck, and previous Windows Installations not showing. A particularly concerning issue affects some Insiders using Xbox Controllers via Bluetooth, causing PC bugchecks. Microsoft provides a workaround: uninstall the “oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)” driver via Device Manager.

Critically important Reminders for Dev Channel Insiders

It’s important to remember that the Dev Channel receives updates based on Windows 11, version 25H2, delivered via an enablement package.Features are often rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and expanding over time. Insiders can opt-in to recieve features as they become available via Settings > Windows Update, but should be aware that features may change, be removed, or never be released beyond the Insider program.

Microsoft encourages users to provide feedback through the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under the appropriate categories, such as Devices and Drivers > Linked Phone for the app resume feature, or Desktop Habitat > Lock screen for the new battery iconography.

The new battery icons, designed for swift glance readability, are now appearing on the lock screen, providing a clearer indication of the PC’s battery status.

As always, Microsoft emphasizes that features previewed with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and encourages reporting localization issues via the Feedback Hub. Accessibility features may also experience compatibility issues with preview features like Recall and Click to Do.
