For the second time in just a few months, a Windows 11 update is causing problems. Users report crashes and frozen systems.

Microsoft has been distributing the preview update KB5043145 for Windows 11 since last week. Now the company is reporting massive problems for users after installing the update.

The company said it received reports that PCs “rebooted multiple times or became unresponsive and displayed blue or green screens” after the update. Windows 11 version 23H2 and Windows 11 version 22H2 are affected.

According to user reports, the automatic repair tool was started on some systems after repeated restart attempts – a so-called boot loop. The application is there to detect and fix problems.

As the magazine “Windows Latest” reports, some users were unable to use their mouse or keyboard after the update. Apparently the USB ports on the PCs no longer worked after the update, as Microsoft confirms on its website. Bluetooth connections are also affected.

Until Microsoft resolves the issue and provides a solution, you should not start the update using the Windows update feature.

In some cases, the update may start automatically, even though it is an optional update. To prevent this, you should temporarily turn off automatic updates.

An update for Windows 10 and 11 only caused problems in the spring. At that time, numerous users reported to “Windows Latest” that their PC kept crashing after installing the update provided by Microsoft.

After installing the update with the number KB5035853, the so-called “blue screen of death” with different error codes occurred. “Blue screen” is the name of the error screen that appears when Windows stops the system due to a problem.
