Windows 11 will soon control RGB lighting for gaming accessories

by time news

Windows 11 may soon allow users to customize their RGB LED gaming peripherals without going through manufacturer software. An original functionality that makes it possible to do without complex, sometimes unnecessary applications.

Many video game PC accessories include RGB LEDs: keyboards, mice, headphones… a gimmick popular with many manufacturers that allows users to completely customize their setup. Soon, it will be possible to set this aspect locally via Windows 11.

Popular Twittos Albacore has already spotted something interesting in Windows 11 build 25295 for Insiders: a new list of gaming accessories. It allows to manage brightness, color or animation on keyboards or mouse. What’s more, it will be possible to associate the colors of the LED lights with the theme installed on Windows 11. Nice. Note that references to this feature aren’t new, but this is the first time we’ve seen it in action.

Windows 11 can outpace manufacturers’ software

At the moment, Microsoft has not announced anything at all, but the appearance of this feature indicates an upcoming adoption. Redmond has been testing this kind of novelty in its Insider betas, without necessarily including it in Windows 11 at the end.

This feature may bypass third party apps. When you purchase a gaming product that includes LEDs, it is already possible to customize them via the dedicated software. Razer at Synapse, Logitech at G-HUB and Corsair at iCue. Apps that work but are not necessarily fun to use and which are sometimes complicated. Setting LEDs natively via Windows 11 should make life easier for many people.
