Taiwan’s government announced today (Wednesday) that it will use force to defend itself against Chinese aggression. Yesterday it was reported that a Chinese drone was driven away by warning shots by the forces in Taiwan. Earlier, the president ordered the security forces to respond sharply to any Chinese provocation. Senior officials in the Taiwanese government also added that it is the Chinese attempt to take control of the Taiwan Straits and block them from free movement that will lead to instability in the region.

Beijing has been conducting a naval exercise near Taiwan since the visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, earlier this month. This visit led to a lot of tension in the region and bellicose statements from the governments sitting in Taipei, Beijing and Washington.
